In the recent NHL match between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres, Sidney Crosby achieved a historic milestone at the KeyBank Center. During the first period of the game, Rickard Rakell passed the puck to Crosby, who scored a goal, marking Crosby’s 20th consecutive season with a point-per-game. This achievement surpasses Wayne Gretzky’s record for the most in NHL history. Josh Getzoff, SportsNet Pittsburgh play-by-play broadcaster, noted, “Crosby, the most consistent of them all! His 20th straight season with a point-per-game, it passes Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history!”

Crosby’s achievement was celebrated despite the Penguins’ 7-3 loss against the Sabres. In an interview, Crosby attributed his long-term success to his work ethic, saying, “I think just work ethic. I think you have to continue to get better and learn. Even after this long, you got to continue to evolve and adjust. So, that’s something that I try to do, but I’ve been pretty lucky to play with some great players over that 20 years.”

Teammate Bryan Rust expressed admiration for Crosby, stating, “He’s a tremendously special player and person… just, 20 years is a huge accomplishment.” Crosby’s family, including his dad Troy, mom Trina, and girlfriend Kathy, were present to witness the moment firsthand. Crosby acknowledged their support, saying, “They’ve been to a lot of games over the years, and they’ve sacrificed so much.”

Despite the challenging defeat, Crosby emphasized his gratitude to his teammates: “Obviously, all the guys in that room, a lot of people you think of and have been a big part of it. So, thankful for that.”
