U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, posted a series of statements on August 26, 2025, addressing immigration detention, criticism of former President Donald Trump, and the conflict in Gaza.
On August 26 at 14:44 UTC, Lee wrote: “Yesterday, I was denied entry into the Moshannon Valley ICE Detention Center because ICE is doing everything in their power to hide their horrific treatment of our communities. We will not stand down and will keep doing our jobs to hold the Trump admin accountable.”
Later that day at 17:12 UTC, she posted: “Donald doesn’t like burning the flag, just the Constitution.”
At 18:18 UTC on the same day, Lee addressed recent violence in Gaza by stating: “Netanyahu is calling Israel’s double strike on a hospital in Gaza that killed civilians and reporters a ‘tragic mishap.’ Targeting press is not a mishap. Murdering tens of thousands of Palestinians is not a mishap. Starving civilians is not a mishap. The US must withhold arms”.
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle. She previously served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
