U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who represents Pennsylvania’s 12th district, has recently used her social media platform to address a range of issues including federal budget impacts, community safety initiatives, and violence in the West Bank.
On July 15, 2025, Lee posted about former President Donald Trump’s visit to Pittsburgh and the potential consequences of a newly signed federal budget. She stated: “As Trump arrives in Pittsburgh, I stood yesterday with folks outside CMU who know what’s at stake—because while he sells lies, our communities are bracing for the harmful impact of the budget he signed into law.
18,000 in PA-12 will lose Medicaid.
10,000 will lose food” (July 15, 2025).
Later that same day, Lee announced new legislative efforts focused on public safety and social support. She wrote: “Community safety isn’t about more cops or prisons.
It’s about care during a crisis. Safe schools. Homes. It’s about dignity.
Today we launched the Community Safety Agenda and reintroduced the People’s Response Act to invest in what truly keeps us safe: our people.” (July 15, 2025).
On July 16, Lee addressed violence abroad following an incident involving a U.S. citizen in the West Bank. She stated: “Another U.S. citizen murdered in the West Bank.
Sayfollah Musallet deserves justice and accountability. The U.S. government must conduct a swift investigation and take action against settler violence.” (July 16, 2025).
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District since replacing Mike Doyle in Congress in 2023 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, she holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Howard University.
