U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who serves Pennsylvania’s 12th district, posted a series of statements on her social media accounts this week addressing public education, government transparency, and climate policy.
On August 4, Lee visited Lutz Elementary and shared her perspective on the importance of investing in public schools. She wrote, “Strong public schools build strong communities—and schools like Lutz Elementary remind us what’s possible when we invest in our kids and our educators. Every single child deserves a school that sees and supports them. Thank you for the warm welcome, Superintendent!”
The following day, Lee announced action related to the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. In her August 5 post, she stated, “I introduced a motion to subpoena the Epstein files. We got the votes. Today, we got the subpoena. The DOJ has 2 weeks to release the Epstein files to the Oversight Committee. Justice must apply to everyone, no matter how rich, powerful, or well-connected they are.”
Later that same day, Lee commented on environmental issues and recent federal actions regarding climate change regulations under former President Donald Trump’s administration: “The communities hit by pollutants and worsened fires, floods, and storms know how real climate change. But the Trump admin is once again denying it. Repealing this finding would weaken the fight against the crisis. All to help line the pockets of Trump’s corporate polluter”.
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle; she previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale at age 35, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
