Rep. Summer Lee, a U.S. Congress member representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, shared her thoughts and initiatives through a series of tweets in early June 2025.
On June 6, Rep. Lee extended her greetings for the Eid al-Adha celebration to the Muslim community. She tweeted: “Wishing a blessed Eid al-Adha to our Muslim neighbors in PA-12 and across the country!”
Later that day, she announced her commitment to enhancing judicial fairness by reintroducing the True Justice Act alongside fellow representative @RepMGS. Her tweet stated: “The True Justice Act would expand access to public defenders at bail hearings because due process must be a right, not a privilege. Everyone deserves a fair shot in court. Proud to reintroduce this bill with @RepMGS.”
On June 7, Rep. Lee expressed her concerns regarding the administration’s attempt to close Job Corps centers based on what she described as false data. She noted the importance of these centers for youth transformation and was relieved that judicial intervention halted such efforts. Her tweet read: “Job Corps is transformational for young people, and the Pittsburgh center has been incredibly successful. Yet DOGE and this admin wanted to kick students back out on the streets due to false data. Grateful a judge blocked this illegal order. We must keep these centers funded.”
Additional context reveals that Summer Lee replaced Mike Doyle in Congress after serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987, she resides in Swissvale and holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Howard University.
