Rep. Summer Lee, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, addressed several current political and social issues in a series of tweets posted on August 6 and 7, 2025.
On August 6, Lee voiced her support for fellow Representative Delia Ramirez, stating: “.@RepDeliaRamirez’s lived experiences and heritage strengthen her commitment and ability to represent us all in Congress. It’s no surprise bad actors will twist her words and try to further divide us. I am proud to stand with my friend and colleague.” The statement highlights Lee’s endorsement of Ramirez amid what she described as divisive tactics from opponents.
The following day, Lee commented on actions by the Trump administration regarding unionized workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In her August 7 tweet, she wrote: “The Trump administration is now targeting unionized VA workers—many of whom are veterans themselves. This is a violation of law and a direct attack on workers, veterans’ care, and veterans. Secretary Collins must end these political attacks.”
Later that same day, Lee joined calls for congressional hearings centered on survivors connected to Jeffrey Epstein. She stated: “Survivors of Epstein and his accomplices have waited too long for justice. Their voices deserve to be heard in their words and on their terms. That’s why I joined @RepPressley and our @OversightDems colleagues to demand a hearing that centers them first and foremost.”
Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District since succeeding Mike Doyle in 2023 after serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987, she currently resides in Swissvale. She earned a BA from Pennsylvania State University in 2009 before receiving her JD from Howard University in 2015.
