Rep. Summer Lee, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Pennsylvania’s 12th district, addressed her constituents in a series of tweets on May 1, 2025. The tweets touched upon local issues, recovery resources, and her political motivations and commitments.
In a tweet posted on May 1, 2025, at 14:27 UTC, Lee addressed residents in Allegheny and Westmoreland who were still experiencing power outages. She expressed solidarity by saying “To everyone still without power in Allegheny & Westmoreland—you are not alone. Thank you to the neighbors opening their homes and to first responders & crews working nonstop to restore power. My office is here to support every step of the way.”
Later the same day, at 19:26 UTC, Lee posted another tweet providing additional resources for recovery efforts. She directed her constituents to “For more recovery resources, click here: https://t.co/j7622ozyLw https://t.co/unrwUcn5Fs” ensuring the community could access needed support.
In another post at 20:04 UTC, Lee reflected on her upbringing and political ethos. She tweeted, “I grew up working-class. It’s what shaped my politics. So when corporate greed and anti-worker policies—like those pushed under Trump—hurt our people, we organize and fight back. On May Day, I celebrate our workers, stand for fair wages, union power, and dignity on the job.” This statement underscored her focus on labor rights and fair wages, aligning with her advocacy work.
Lee has been serving as a U.S. Congress member for the 12th District since 2023, succeeding Mike Doyle. She previously held office in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and a JD from Howard University.
