Rep. Summer Lee, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing issues related to immigration enforcement, political culture, and the legacy of civil rights leaders.
On February 16, 2026, Lee commented on the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “ICE is operating exactly as it was meant to. It is deeply and uniquely American. Pretending otherwise prevents us from working towards dismantling the institutions that harm our communities.”
The following day, February 17, 2026, Lee criticized certain members of Congress and former President Donald Trump in another post: “This man is everything that is wrong with our culture right now. And Trump & his Republican colleagues have shown us they don’t care how disgusting, hateful, & Islamophobic any of them are. He should be expelled from Congress, but he’ll get away with it like Trump does every”
Later on February 17, Lee addressed the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson: “Today we lost a champion for civil rights, Rev. Jesse Jackson. He dedicated his life to demanding our country live up to its promises of freedom and equality. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones, including my colleague @rep_jackson. May we honor him by”
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District in Congress since succeeding Mike Doyle in 2023 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale at age 35, Lee holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
