The Pittsburgh Penguins will host Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Day for the first time at PPG Paints Arena when they play against the Vegas Golden Knights on March 1. The event is a collaboration with Fred Rogers Productions and is presented by U. S. Steel.
Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was produced in Pittsburgh for decades, and the game aims to honor the show’s legacy of kindness and community values. “Fans attending the afternoon matchup will see a variety of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood in-arena elements designed to celebrate kindness, community and learning, highlighting the beloved children’s television icon and his deep roots in the Pittsburgh community,” according to the announcement.
A special ticket package is available that includes a Penguins-branded cardigan inspired by Fred Rogers’ signature look. Fans can also purchase an exclusive t-shirt featuring both Penguins and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood branding. Additional activities include concourse activations, cheer card giveaways, and recognition of community members who demonstrate kindness.
U. S. Steel’s support will help provide these fan experiences during the game.
Fred Rogers previously appeared at a Penguins game during the NHL’s 75th Anniversary Celebration in the 1991-92 season, where he served as “Celebrity Captain” and was honored on ice at Civic Arena.
