The Pittsburgh Pirates have shared a video showcasing pitcher Paul Skenes’ Major League debut, highlighting his first experiences with the team. The 12-minute video was released on X and offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at Skenes’ initial days as a Pirate. It includes moments from his arrival at the ballpark, interactions with manager Derek Shelton, and the sewing of his debut patch onto his jersey. Additionally, it features footage of his warmup, first strikeout, and postgame interviews alongside photos with his family.

Skenes made an impressive start in his debut game against the Chicago Cubs, where he struck out seven batters over four innings. The Pirates secured a narrow victory with a final score of 10-9.

This release follows recent news that Skenes is a finalist for two prestigious awards: the Baseball Writer’s Association of America’s Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award and the Cy Young Award. In his rookie season, Skenes achieved an 11-3 record with a 1.96 ERA across 23 starts.
