The Pittsburgh Penguins will mark the 10th anniversary of their 2016 Stanley Cup Championship on January 31, ahead of their game against the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena.
A pre-game ceremony is planned to honor the team that secured the championship a decade ago. Fans attending the event are encouraged to arrive early and will receive a commemorative championship ring, courtesy of PPG. The arena doors open at 2:00 PM, with puck drop scheduled for 3:30 PM. Tickets for the game remain available.
All individuals whose names appear on the Stanley Cup from 2016 have been invited to attend. Notable former players expected include goaltenders Marc-Andre Fleury and Jeff Zatkoff; forwards Matt Cullen, Pascal Dupuis, Eric Fehr, Carl Hagelin, Patric Hornqvist, Tom Kuhnhackl and Chris Kunitz; as well as defensemen Trevor Daley and Ben Lovejoy. Jim Rutherford, who served as Penguins General Manager in 2016 and is now President of Hockey Operations for the Vancouver Canucks, is also set to participate.
Current members of the Penguins—Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust—along with Assistant Coach Nick Bonino will take part in the ceremony before the game. Mike Sullivan, currently Head Coach of the Rangers but formerly associated with Pittsburgh during their championship run, along with forward Conor Sheary will also be recognized.
In addition to these events, there will be a special ticketed program called “2016 Cup Chronicles” held in the Lexus Club at 1:30 PM before the main ceremony. This event features stories from Jim Rutherford and returning players about key moments from their championship season. Tickets for this program can be purchased separately.
