The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place as part of their ongoing four-game road trip. The game is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM and will be broadcast on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Fans can also listen to the coverage on 105.9 The X or through the Penguins app.

Currently, the Penguins hold a record of 24 wins, 14 losses, and 11 overtime losses, while the Oilers have a record of 25-18-8. The Penguins have started their road trip strong with victories in Seattle and Calgary.

Since the NHL’s holiday break ended on December 27, Pittsburgh has earned points in 11 out of their last 13 games. This performance has been attributed to strong play from both goaltenders and defensemen. During this period, the team has allowed only 27 goals, leading the league in goals-against average and ranking second in save percentage.

The team’s penalty kill has also been effective. Last night against Calgary, Pittsburgh successfully killed off their only penalty and have now killed off 21 of their last 22 penalties since January 10. Their penalty kill success rate of 95.5% leads the league during this stretch. Additionally, Pittsburgh is currently the only team with both its penalty kill and power play ranked among the top five in the league.

Recent roster addition Egor Chinakhov scored his fourth goal as a Penguin last night in Calgary, bringing his season total to seven goals for the year. Since joining Pittsburgh, Chinakhov has four goals in eleven games; previously he had three goals in twenty-nine games with Columbus before being traded. Only Sidney Crosby and Connor Dewar have scored more goals for Pittsburgh than Chinakhov since his debut with the team. With Chinakhov on board, the Penguins have collected points in nine out of eleven games, posting a record of seven wins, two losses, and two overtime losses.

The second line—consisting of Chinakhov (one goal), Evgeni Malkin (one goal and one assist), and Tommy Novak (one goal and one assist)—accounted for three of Pittsburgh’s four goals last night against Calgary.

Sidney Crosby continues to lead Pittsburgh offensively since December 27 with eighteen points, placing him ninth overall in league scoring during that time frame.
