The Pittsburgh Penguins have introduced their 13 new draft picks from the 2025 NHL Draft at an event held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. The players were given a tour of the facilities, received jerseys with their names, and interacted with the media.
Will Horcoff, a first-round pick, expressed enthusiasm about joining the organization. “All these players here, they’re drafted for a reason. They have really high potential,” he said. “So, to come into an organization that does as good with development as the Penguins do, it’s really exciting.”
Wes Clark, Vice President of Player Personnel for the Penguins, emphasized the team’s focus on selecting players who could contribute to winning hockey games. He noted that even in informal settings like ping-pong matches in the player lounge, competitiveness was evident among this group.
Quinn Beauchesne, picked in the fifth round, echoed this sentiment: “Everybody hates to lose, and I think that’s a great start for this organization.”
Among those drafted was Ben Kindel from Coquitlam, British Columbia. Clark described him as having elite hockey intelligence and praised his game influence on both sides of the puck.
Bill Zonnon from Montreal also joined as a first-round selection. His competitive nature and versatility were highlighted by Clark during his introduction.
Other notable selections include Will Horcoff from Birmingham and Peyton Kettles from Winnipeg. Each player brings unique skills and backgrounds to the team.
The Penguins are optimistic about their new recruits’ potential contributions as they work towards returning to contention in future seasons.
