The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced the hiring of Jonathan Garcia as Assistant Skating Coach. The announcement was made by Kyle Dubas, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.
Garcia will work with the player development department and coaching staffs throughout the organization. His main focus will be on players at the ECHL level and on prospects in junior hockey, the NCAA, and various European leagues.
Before joining the Penguins, Garcia represented the United States in long track speed skating at two Olympic Games (2014 and 2018). He is a nine-time United States National Team Member and a three-time US Short Track American Cup Champion. From 2007 to 2018, he competed in both long track and short track speed skating competitions.
