The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced the appointment of Evan McFeeters as Roving Minor League Coach. The announcement was made by Kyle Dubas, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.

In his new position, McFeeters will join the player development department and support both Ryan Papaioannou’s coaching staff with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL and Kirk McDonald’s staff with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL. He will also assist with on-ice and off-ice development for all prospects and players within the organization.

“We are extremely excited to add Evan to the organization,” said Penguins Assistant General Manager Jason Spezza. “Evan has a passion for development, and in his role, he will help increase cohesion between our AHL and ECHL coaching staffs, further emphasizing the importance of our four-tiered approach to development.”

McFeeters brings over 15 years of coaching experience at various levels. Most recently, he worked with Prairie Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squad last season. In 2023-24, he coached with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, where he worked with Tanner Howe, who was selected by Pittsburgh in the second round of the 2024 draft.

His experience also includes eight seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2016 to 2023, serving roles with Canmore Eagles, Brooks Bandits, and Sherwood Park Crusaders. With Sherwood Park Crusaders from 2022-23, he was both Head Coach and Assistant General Manager. From 2020-22, McFeeters worked under Ryan Papaioannou as Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager for Brooks Bandits, contributing to their AJHL and Centennial Cup championships. He began his AJHL career as Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager for Canmore Eagles from 2016-20.

McFeeters is originally from Canmore, Alberta. He served as an Assistant Coach for Canada West during the 2022 World Junior A Challenge.
