The Pittsburgh Penguins will conclude their 2024-25 season with a match against the Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM with doors opening at 5:30 PM. This encounter will be available on ESPN with live commentary accessible via 105.9 the X and the Penguins app.

The Penguins currently hold a record of 33-36-12, whereas the Capitals stand at 51-21-9. Pittsburgh has historically outperformed Washington, being the team to defeat them most since the 2015-16 season. The Penguins are 4-2-1 in their last seven outings.

The event is set to be Fan Appreciation Night, presented by PPG, with numerous activities planned for those attending. This season marks a milestone in the longstanding rivalry between Crosby and Ovechkin. They have competed against each other for two decades, with Crosby’s Penguins holding an edge with a 41-27-4 record in their matchups. The pair have accumulated extensive accolades including several Stanley Cup titles and individual awards.

Notably, Erik Karlsson has been a significant point scorer against Washington, and Sidney Crosby is close to achieving a 90-point season for the ninth time in his career. Rickard Rakell leads the Penguins in goals this season with a new personal best, while rookie Ville Koivunen is exhibiting promising results since his NHL debut. Tristan Jarry’s recent performances have been commendable, with victories and shutouts in his recent matches.

Defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has also excelled in his first year with the team, achieving personal records in multiple categories. Filip Kral has been recalled for tonight’s game, anticipated to debut after an impressive AHL season.
