Ben Bruno, a Los Angeles-based trainer known for working with celebrities and athletes, recently highlighted Kris Letang on his Instagram account. Letang’s impressive performance in the gym caught attention, particularly his record-breaking walking lunges.
Letang’s achievements are noteworthy given that he recently underwent successful surgery to close a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a small hole in the heart. This procedure followed two strokes he suffered in 2014 and 2022, with doctors suspecting the PFO as a contributing factor.
Discussing his recovery and training regimen, Letang expressed gratitude for the support of trainers like Ben Bruno and Jon Chaimberg. He also mentioned reconnecting with fellow Montreal native Boko Imama after returning to Quebec post-surgery.
Letang was invited by the Pittsburgh Penguins to participate in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft alongside his son Alex. Initially hesitant due to past participation, Letang agreed because of Alex’s enthusiasm.
In Pittsburgh, Letang met new coaching staff members, including Nick Bonino and Rich Clune. Despite changes within the team, Letang remains focused on growth and learning from new perspectives as he approaches his 20th season in the NHL.
