The Pittsburgh Steelers selected running back Kaleb Johnson in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Johnson, a former University of Iowa player, was chosen with the 83rd overall pick.
During his college career with the Hawkeyes, Johnson played in 35 games and started in 22. He carried the ball 508 times for a total of 2,779 yards and scored 30 touchdowns. Additionally, he recorded 29 receptions for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Johnson achieved significant milestones at Iowa, becoming the 17th player to rush over 2,000 yards and the 51st to surpass 1,000 career rushing yards. He is also one of only five players in Iowa history to have two games with over 200 rushing yards. Furthermore, he has accomplished twelve games with over 100 rushing yards, ranking him sixth in school history.
At Hamilton High School, Johnson was an AP Scholar and Honor Roll student. His academic achievements were largely influenced by his grandfather Jeffrey Strader’s emphasis on education. In sports, he earned first-team all-state honors as a senior and first-team all-conference honors as a junior. He served as team captain during his junior and senior years and also participated in basketball and track.
In May, Johnson experienced a personal milestone when he was baptized, describing it as one of the most meaningful moments in his life.
