Summer Lee, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district, shared her thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her perspectives on violence, political accountability, and educational policies.
On June 2, 2025, Summer Lee expressed her condolences for the victims and families affected by an attack in Boulder, Colorado. She emphasized that “violence has no place in our communities, and no one should live in fear.”
The following day, June 3, 2025, she criticized Republican lawmakers regarding their understanding of legislation. In her tweet, she stated that “if Republicans actually read the thing and all the horrible things we said it would do, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
On June 4, 2025, Lee addressed the administration’s stance on diversity and inclusion within schools. She argued against actions reminiscent of Jim Crow laws and advocated for comprehensive education by stating that “just because @EdSecMcMahon doesn’t know something doesn’t mean students across America should be deprived of learning history.”
Summer Lee is currently serving her term in Congress after replacing Mike Doyle in 2023. Prior to this role, she served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and residing in Swissvale, Lee holds a BA from Pennsylvania State University and a JD from Howard University.
