Allegheny Health Network (AHN) announced that five of its physicians have been recognized in the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s (PAMED) ‘Top Physicians Under 40’ list for 2025. Among the seven physicians from Allegheny County who were honored, four are associated with AHN.

The distinguished AHN physicians include Juan M. Giugale, MD in orthopaedic surgery; Rebecca K. Marcus, MD in general surgery; Lauren M. Mathos, DO FACP in internal medicine; Nabeeha Mohy-ud-din, MD in gastroenterology; and Alexander C. Whiting, MD in neurosurgery.

PAMED is a physician-led organization that represents doctors and medical students across Pennsylvania. The society supports physicians through advocacy and continuing education while offering resources to navigate healthcare complexities.

The ‘Top Physicians Under 40’ list is an annual PAMED initiative that highlights early-career physicians nominated by peers and selected by a committee of members for their significant contributions to medicine.

Bethany Casagranda, DO, MBA, chief medical officer at AHN said: “These outstanding physicians embody AHN’s commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care through our Living Health model. Their dedication, passion and unwavering focus on quality are commendable. We extend our congratulations to each of this year’s PAMED awardees for their contributions to our community.”
