Rookie cornerback Donte Kent’s first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers ended before it began due to injuries. Drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft as the 229th overall pick, Kent suffered a foot injury during training camp and was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on August 28.
Kent’s opportunity to return opened on December 3 when his 21-day practice window began. However, he sustained a knee injury in practice and remained on the Reserve/Injured List for the rest of the season.
During his college career at Central Michigan, Kent played in 53 games and started 48 times. He recorded 235 tackles, including 171 solo stops, defended 47 passes, made two interceptions, forced two fumbles, recovered one fumble, registered four and a half tackles for loss, and had one and a half sacks. In addition to his defensive contributions, Kent returned 16 punts for 217 yards with a long return of 68 yards and scored one touchdown in the 2024 season.
Kent received All-Mid-American Conference honors three times: first team in 2022 and second team in both 2023 and 2024.
