The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Institute is organizing an event aimed at supporting men with cancer and their caregivers. The “Men with Cancer BBQ & Wellness Fair” will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion’s Cafeteria & Dining Hall in Wexford, Pennsylvania.
The event is open to all men with cancer and their caregivers, regardless of whether they are AHN patients. Attendees will have access to barbecue-style food, giveaways—including a chance to win Pittsburgh Pirates tickets—and opportunities for networking with other patients, survivors, caregivers, and medical experts.
Breakout sessions during the fair will cover topics such as managing side effects of treatment, nutrition, mental and physical health, and strategies for thriving after a cancer diagnosis.
“For many men, the expectation is to ‘tough it out’ and not burden others with their concerns. But cancer is not something anyone should face alone,” said Dr. David Bartlett, Chair of the AHN Cancer Institute and AHN Research Institute. “This BBQ and Wellness Fair offers a unique opportunity for men to open up, share their experiences, meet others facing similar health paths, and build a community that challenges that outdated norm.”
