In June, the median sale price of a home in Allegheny County rose by $12,350 from the same period in the previous year, while total sales decreased by 7.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

There were 1,236 homes sold in June, with a median sale price of $242,250 — a 5.4% increase over the $229,900 median sale price during the same period of the previous year. In comparison, 1,337 homes were sold in Allegheny County in June 2024.

Based on the latest available data from 2022, the median sales tax in Allegheny County was $420, which stands at 0.2% of June’s median home sale price.

The U.S. housing market has surged in recent years, with its total value approaching $50 trillion in 2024—nearly five times its value in 2000.
“The value of America’s housing market will likely cross the $50 trillion threshold in the next 12 months as there are not enough homes being listed to push prices down,” said Redfin Economics Research Lead Chen Zhao.
