Dr. Naval Udgiri, a vascular surgeon at AHN Saint Vincent, has been named to Newsweek’s 2025 list of America’s Leading Doctors in the field of vascular surgery. This annual recognition highlights between 175 and 200 physicians nationwide in each specialty, using criteria such as Medicare physician performance data, statewide online surveys, peer quality score ratings, and board certifications.
The selection process for America’s Leading Doctors aims to identify physicians who demonstrate excellence in clinical skill, patient outcomes, professional reputation, and certification by recognized American medical and surgical boards.
Dr. Udgiri began his career as a transplant surgeon at an Ivy League institution in India before moving to the United States for further training. He completed his residency at Bronx Lebanon Medical Center in New York and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Since joining AHN Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Dr. Udgiri has led efforts to improve the hospital’s vascular department. He introduced several advanced minimally invasive procedures to the region, which allowed local patients access to new treatments without needing to travel elsewhere.
Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Udgiri is active as an educator and mentor for medical students and residents. He also participates in international conferences and contributes to raising the standard of vascular care throughout northwest Pennsylvania.
He practices at AHN Saint Vincent Vascular and Endovascular Surgery on Myrtle Street in Erie.
Four other Allegheny Health Network (AHN) physicians were also included on Newsweek’s list: Bart Chess, MD (vascular surgery), Satish C Muluk, MD (vascular surgery), Stephen Bailey, MD (cardiothoracic surgery), and James McCormick, DO (colorectal surgery). All four practice at AHN Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
