AHN Saint Vincent will hold a series of events in October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The hospital aims to increase awareness, provide education, and support people affected by breast cancer. Events are open to the public, visitors, and hospital staff.
The schedule includes a kickoff event on October 1 at 10 a.m. in the hospital lobby with remarks from Dr. Jennifer Saldanha, an AHN breast cancer surgeon, hospital employees, and breast cancer survivor Joyce Osborne.
On October 8, pink carnations will be sold for $2 in the hospital lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., allowing people to show support for breast cancer patients. A bake sale is scheduled for October 15 in the same location and time frame.
Other activities include a cotton candy sale on October 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also in the lobby, with each treat priced at $2. On October 23, there will be a celebrity bartending event at Plymouth Tavern from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring local personalities as bartenders.
The final event is a cheesecake cup sale on October 29 in the hospital lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with items selling for $2 each.
Proceeds from these events will go toward the AHN Saint Vincent Breast Cancer Awareness and Education Fund.
“At AHN Saint Vincent, we understand and empathize with the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by breast cancer,” said Dr. Saldanha, AHN Saint Vincent breast cancer surgeon. “We stand in solidarity with our patients, offering support, education, and hope as we navigate this journey together.”
All proceeds raised during these events will support efforts related to breast cancer awareness and education.
