AHN Saint Vincent Hospital is organizing a lung cancer awareness event to inform the public about screenings, early detection, and treatment options. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th, at 5:30 PM at the McGarvey Learning Center within Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA.
The initiative comes in response to findings that two-thirds of Americans are unaware of available lung cancer screening services. The event aims to bridge this knowledge gap by providing information and demonstrating advanced surgical technologies accessible in Erie.
Participants will have the chance to learn about lung cancer screening and understand who is at risk and why early detection is essential. Attendees can also meet with leading experts such as Dr. Kiet Ma, DO, a pulmonologist, and Dr. Thomas Person, MD, a thoracic and cardiac surgeon. These professionals will share their experiences in detecting and treating early-stage lung cancer.
Additionally, attendees can engage in hands-on demonstrations of the ION and Da Vinci surgical systems by Intuitive Surgical. These systems are considered revolutionary for minimally invasive lung cancer surgery.
