Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Prehospital Care has announced that AHN Canonsburg Ambulance is now the designated emergency medical services provider for Donegal Township. This marks an expansion of service by the ambulance team, which has been serving the Washington County community for over 25 years. Currently, AHN Canonsburg Ambulance provides EMS to Canonsburg, Houston Borough, and Chartiers Township.

The ambulance service operates round-the-clock with Pennsylvania Department of Health-certified paramedics, EMTs, and AEMTs capable of delivering Advanced Life Support and emergency medical care. The fleet consists of seven vehicles outfitted with modern technology and equipment.

Beyond providing emergency care and stabilization services, AHN’s team facilitates transport to local hospitals for acute conditions like heart attacks, strokes, and trauma as needed. They also assist neighboring agencies when required.

“Canonsburg Ambulance has a long history of serving Washington County,” stated Bob Twaddle, Ed.D., EMT-P, vice president of AHN Prehospital Care Services. “We are pleased to expand our service to Donegal Township, ensuring even more residents in the community have access to the highest-quality EMS care.”

AHN Canonsburg Ambulance was a pioneer in Washington County in using mechanical CPR devices, advanced video laryngoscopes for airway management, and power cot stretchers in its ambulances. The team has earned awards for outstanding cardiac care.

The Donegal Township Board of Supervisors expressed their satisfaction with this development: “We are pleased to have Allegheny Health Network’s Canonsburg Ambulance provide service to the residents of Donegal Township as we feel it will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our community.” They emphasized that having an ambulance staffed 24/7 within their community would likely result in shorter response times and better outcomes for those needing urgent medical attention.

AHN Prehospital Care Services includes physician-led EMS medical direction, education initiatives, quality assurance efforts, business development activities, special operations in medicine, critical care air and ground transport via LifeFlight, and EMS communications centers.
