The National Football League reported on Apr. 28 that the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, held in Pittsburgh, averaged 13.2 million viewers across linear and digital platforms, making it the third most-watched opening round in draft history.
This level of viewership places the event behind only the drafts held in 2020 and 2025 for audience size. The platforms broadcasting Round 1 included ESPN, ABC, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes, Disney+, Hulu, the ESPN App, NFL+, YouTube, TikTok and X.
Attendance at the draft was also notable. A record-setting crowd of approximately 320,000 people attended Round 1 in person at Pittsburgh. Over three days of events surrounding the draft, a total of about 805,000 people were present.
Fan engagement extended beyond traditional broadcasts. The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular featured several guests from Pittsburgh’s football community and generated more than 54 million minutes viewed across YouTube, TikTok, X and the ESPN App on Day 1 alone; it also recorded a total of about 2.2 million views.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a long history within professional football as a member franchise of the National Football League according to their official website. The team has achieved six Super Bowl championships according to their official website and honors former players such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene through its Hall of Honor as listed by the organization. The Steelers contribute to community engagement with historical celebrations and fan experiences as outlined by their official site, including displays at their Hall of Honor Museum located at Acrisure Stadium according to team information.
With both strong television ratings and high attendance numbers for this year’s event in Pittsburgh—alongside continued recognition for local football achievements—the city remains an important location for fans following both league-wide events and team-specific milestones.
